Medical Mission in Nigeria.

Do you know that for every one Canadian mother that dies as a result of pregnancy, over one hundred and sixty Nigerian mothers suffer similar fate?

The 2006 Country Mortality Fact Sheet from WHO reports that a Nigerian mother has 160 times higher risk of dying from pregnancy than a Canadian mother with the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Nigeria being 800 per 100,000 as compared to the MMR of 5 per 100,000 in Canada.

The ConcernedNigerians, in conjunction with the Medicos Para La Familia, is embarking on a Medical Mission in Nigeria (MMN) with the support of the governments of Lagos State and Ogun State. This is a pilot project that shall initially last four weeks with ultimate goal of making it an ongoing project focusing on reducing Maternal Morbidity and Mortality in Nigeria.

The inauguration ceremony of the MMN is slated for March 4th, 2008 in Lagos during which the Save Nigerian Mothers Initiative shall be launched.

Please join us in saving Nigerian Mothers and Nigerian Future. Details of the events shall be posted soon.
