Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has assured Nigerians that if they vote in the upcoming general election, insecurity and hunger, among other challenges, will be adequately addressed.

Atiku, who made this claim during his presidential campaign rally in Minna, Niger state, said in 2015 that Nigerians voted in the All Progressives Congress, APC, against the PDP in their desire for change.

However, he argued that today, instead of achieving the desired change, APC only succeeded in plunging the nation into a myriad of problems such as insecurity, hunger, and deteriorating infrastructure, among others.

Atiku said: “You said you wanted change in 2015 and you voted for the APC, but today the party has brought insecurity, hunger and a lot of suffering. This is the time to turn the tide to turn things around by voting PDP in general elections both nationally and statewide.”

He also told the huge crowd that the Atiku/Okowa candidacy, if elected, would complete the Baro port project for the good and progress of the state.

The PPD presidential candidate further said: “we would guarantee unity and security in most of your educational system, hospitals and roads will be restructured.”

Vice-presidential candidate and Delta state governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in his remarks urged the people of Niger to campaign for the party in the state and on a village-to-village basis to ensure it wins both state and national level.

Formerly Director General, Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization and Sokoto State Governor, Alh. Aminu Tambuwal, accused the government headed by Muhammadu Buhari of deceiving the people of Niger by commissioning the currently non-functioning Baro port project, while urging the people of the state to choose their leaders wisely and not be deceived again in the elections.

In his speech, former Niger State Governor and Chairman of the state’s Presidential Campaign Committee, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, called on people to vote for the party to ensure it succeeds in the elections.

According to him, “I have brought a candidate who has experience and will help the state of Niger. Let’s correct our mistakes that we wrongly made. If you trust me, please vote Atiku for president and Kantigi for governor in the elections.”

Similarly, the state party chairman, Bar. Tanko Beji, in his welcome speech, promised the party’s commitment to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious at all levels.
