In light of predictions that the five disgruntled Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governors—Nyeson Wike, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Seyi Makinde—could eventually adopt Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 elections, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that Atiku Abubakar will be surprised.

The opposition leadership had been disturbed by the steps of the governors and pondered possible sanctions against them for anti-partisan activities.

It was reported that the governors, who are currently in London, may reach an agreement with the APC standard-bearer as a follow-up to their protest against the retention of Iyorchia Ayu, PDP national chairman.

There were also rumors in some quarters that the governors might settle for the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the February presidential election.

Fani-Kayode, who predicted Tinubu’s adoption by PDP governors in a Facebook post on Friday, said Atiku Abubakar would be disappointed.

The APC leader described the main opposition party as an incurable fanatic who does not deserve the public’s trust.

He also criticized the party for failing to maintain rotational politics ahead of the May primaries.

He said: “The endorsement and statement of support that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get from at least 6 (not just 5) PDP governors this January will finally put an end to the sorry delusion that Atiku Abubakar stubbornly harbors about winning the 2023 presidential election.

“The APC and PMB Northern Governors will not only honor their word and stand their ground, but they will also take their people with them in a way that is eloquent, compelling, historic, resonant and overwhelming.

“Unlike the PDP, the APC is not a party of traitors, traitors, fanatics, hegemons and incurable irredentists arrogant, boastful, delusional, ungrateful and implacable who are totally unable to honor their word, who never reward loyalty, who have tried to belittle and destroy anyone and everyone who has supported and saved them from falling to the brink and who are firmly on the path to self-destruction.

“The massive support Asiwaju will receive in the north and indeed across the country will dispel all doubts, assure him of a resounding victory, cement our national unity, make Nigeria whole again and usher in a new one. and refreshing it was one of hope and security. , progress and prosperity.”
