Owerri- On Tuesday, January 17, women from the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the South East held a presidential rally for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim. Shettima in Owerri, the capital of Imo State today.

A statement sent to legit.ng by the Imo governor’s media team, noted that the women were led by state First Lady and Southeast Tinubu/Shettima women’s campaign team coordinator, Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma.

Present at the event were the wives of the APC candidates, Senator Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, Hajia Nana Shettima, APC leader Mrs. Betty Edu and many other personalities from the area.

Addressing the huge crowd of women at the event, Ms Uzodimma recounted how women from the south-east had come together in October last year when they held a One Million for Tinubu/Shettima rally.

She said that the presidential rally indicates that the southeast will be carried forward in the government of the center.

He reaffirmed that the APC presidential candidate will be very accommodating to women, adding that a Tinubu presidency promises social inclusion and political empowerment of women.

His words:

“The goal is to increase women’s participation in government to at least 35 percent of all government positions.

“Such legislation will also oblige the federal executive (particularly the Cabinet and top senior advisers) to reserve a minimum number of senior positions for women and private institutions will be strongly encouraged to do the same.”

Ms Uzodimma assured the APC presidential candidate that all the women of the South East will come out in droves on Saturday 25th February to vote massively for him.

Senator Tinubu, who was delighted with the participation of women from the southeast, applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma’s leaps and bounds in infrastructure developments.

She assured the women that the APC and the Tinubu administration, if voted in favor, will lead Nigerian women in their appointments and other social programs as well as address the peculiar issues of the South East.

For his part, Governor Uzodimma reiterated the need for women to be active in politics as nation builders and the crowd of women here shows that APC and Bola Ahmed Tinubu are loved and voted for by the people of the South East.

She called on the women to take the message of Renewed Hope to their respective states and localities and urged them to remain resolute and committed to ensure the victory of the party in all elective offices in the country.

2023: Tinubu will be elected president, says Chimaroke Nnamani

For his part, the former governor of Enugu state, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, has reaffirmed his preference for Tinubu to become the next president of Nigeria.

Nnamani, who represents Enugu-East in the Senate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, insisted that Tinubu would be elected president in the upcoming elections.

Nnamani said it was important for people to know that their support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition was not driven by personal interest but by integrating Igboland into Nigerian politics.

2023: Tinubu meets with APC election planning and monitoring teams before the polls

Remember that Tinubu met with the party’s electoral planning and supervision teams in preparation for the general elections on February 25 and March 11.

Addressing the party volunteers during the train-the-trainers session on Monday, January 16 in Abuja, Tinubu thanked them for their efforts in agreeing to work for the party’s success in all elections.

He pointed out that the party’s success largely depends on their commitment to the task entrusted to them.
