As part of his ongoing national consultations ahead of the February 25 presidential election, the former Anambra State Governor made a stop at the renowned Igbo leader’s residence in Enugu on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Upon his arrival, Obi was greeted by the matriarch of the ojukwu family, biancaNAN reported.
During his speech, the Labor Party presidential candidate explained that it was important for him to visit all the country’s leaders to receive their blessing and support, as he needed everyone to clearly understand his good intentions for the nation.
Obi’s words: “For me to do anything, especially now that I’m going around, it’s necessary for me to come and meet my leaders and leaders exist in various spheres of life.
“For me, the most important thing is to walk, be it a political leader or a religious leader. You plead for their blessings. I need everyone’s blessings.
“You need everyone to understand you; you have to figure out what you’re doing to them and be able to say, ‘I came for this purpose’ and that’s why I’m here to see the great family of Ojukwu.”
“I know that with her (Bianca Ojukwu) own approval and support, comes the approval of Ezeigbo, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, wherever he is, praying for us.”
Obi said that he had met most of the Igbo leaders and said “I’m your son”.
“So if you see that your child is doing well and breaking new ground, you just have to encourage their effort.”
“I have met with most of our leaders. I am consulting with all of them,”, added the former governor.
In her remarks, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu noted that ending the patronage era in the state stood out among Obi’s achievements as Governor.
He also praised Obi as one of the most progressive, competent and transparent politicians in Nigeria today.
