Social Democratic Party (SDP) vice-presidential candidate in the February 25 elections, Eng. Yusuf Buhari has stated that monetary policy cannot get Nigerians out of the current challenges.

Buhari made the revelation while addressing a press conference in Ibadan on Monday night.

At the press conference were the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, Barr. Michael Lana, SDP Chairman, Mr. Michael Okunlade and some of the party’s candidates in the 2023 General Election.

Buhari, while addressing the reporters, posited that Nigeria is currently facing a major crisis that could be stopped by visionary, patriotic, just and determined leadership.

He advised the electorate to avoid monetary policy during the elections “because it can get us nowhere.”

Buhari warned that our politics will be determined by the people who have the most money, not by those who can offer the best if we continue to play the politics of money.

He added that the task ahead requires a government fully aware of our differences so that we can fully harness and utilize the potentials of these differences fairly.

Buhari, who spoke the most, urged Nigerians to elect the party’s presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, and other party candidates to lead Nigerians out of the current challenges.

He added that “we must resolve to stop and reverse the trend of failure.”

He declared that it was time to start walking the path that would lead the country to success and prosperity.

Buhari said: “The progress or success that we should aspire to as a people is also a direct consequence of self-responsibility and self-discipline.

“If we continue to play the politics of money, then our politics will be determined by the people who have the most money, not by those who can offer the best. These are critical components in bringing sanity and functionality to any system, as well as in defining responsible citizenship.

“We must resolve to stop and reverse this trend of failure. It is time to start walking down the path that would lead this country to success and prosperity. And even if it’s for nothing else, let’s do it for our children. Our solutions and our destiny are rightly in our hands.”
