Trinity House Church Senior Pastor Ituah Ighodalo has advised Nigerians to vote for detribalized leaders in the upcoming general election.
Ighodalo gave the advice during the fifth edition of the One Man Art Conference, hosted by Dr. Bolaji Akinyemi in Lagos.
Ighodalo said the nation was in a critical condition as Nigerians faced several leadership elections.
He urged Nigerians to take proper stock before casting their votes.
According to him, the nation needed leaders who were truly passionate about the “Nigeria Project”, disciplined, hard-working, energetic and of good pedigree.
“We need leaders who think less of themselves, who are not interested in the acquisition of wealth but who are well educated, informed and intelligent.
“Above all, they must be God-fearing leaders, and with these qualities, such leaders will be able to make a remarkable impact on the nation,” he said.
Ighodalo noted that Nigeria was known as a country with great resources but sadly, Nigerians did not have a true and genuine love for their nation.
He said that Nigerians need to go through some reorientation processes in order to come to a change of approach in the way things were done and be truly patriotic.
“I want to tell the detractors that Nigeria will rise again, although there have been crises, those were sacrifices for the ultimate good of the nation.
“I am concerned about the depreciation in the quality of life here in the country.
“To turn things around, we need a reorientation and a complete change of focus in everything we do. We need to wake up again to be selfless for the collective good of the nation,” she said.
Earlier, the program’s coordinator, Akinyemi, urged church leaders in Nigeria to take politics seriously and stop being lazy about issues.
“It amuses me how ignorant church leaders are or pretend to be as Christians in the context of the obvious onslaught of hell directed at our faith.
“It is time for all of us to stand up to unanimously elect credible leaders who are detribalized,” he said.
