An eyewitness, Uchenna Eze, who also narrated the incident to Legit.ng, said:

“Dozie Nwankwo arrived earlier with his team of supporters at the Igu-Aro festival venue in Enugwu-Ukwu, but they were asked to wait at the entrance gate until the appropriate time so that their activities could take place at that ceremony.

“The organizers of the event announced that no politicians would be allowed to enter the main arena with political flags. Dozie Nwankwo, who was running for the position of Anambra Central Senator under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA (APGA), and his followers, waited patiently at the entrance gate.

“While they waited, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Anambra Central Senator, Senator Uche Ekwunife, and her supporters arrived and ‘made their way into the main arena carrying numerous PDP flags and umbrellas.

“Seeing what happened, Dozie Nwankwo’s supporters also made their way into the arena carrying APGA flags. The development caused a chaotic, sparkling and tense atmosphere, which almost interrupted the event.”
