The concurring gubernatorial candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, urged voters to refrain from violence and vote-buying in the 2023 general election as Nigerians and the rest of the world ring in the New Year.
In his New Year’s speech, Cacique Adelabu made this statement, which was made public by the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organization (BACO).
He stated that the previous year had been difficult for the nation, particularly in terms of security and the global economic crisis.
“We must thank God for the gift of life despite the many economic and security problems the nation is currently facing.
“The year 2023 is important and significant in the life of Nigerians because two critical exercises will take place, the general election and the population and housing census for the advancement of the country.
“These two critical decisions are important for national development, especially the 2023 general election, which is an important factor that will determine the fate of the country and states in terms of governance and general well-being of the masses,” Adelabu said.
The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria also called on politicians and their supporters to refrain from any act that is likely to undermine Nigeria’s nascent democracy.
