The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has appointed an 11-person Disciplinary Committee that would oversee the activities of the public transport system divided into vehicle and bicycle sectors in the state.

A statement from the governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, obtained in Osogbo on Monday, said Nurudeen Oluronbi would head the vehicle sector, while Sikiru Oyeniyi would head the bicycle sector.

He further said that the Disciplinary Committee would have representatives of the Commissioner of Works and Transportation, the Commissioner of Finance and a representative of the Osun Internal Revenue Service, among others.

The statement described the new transportation management model as a “fulfillment of Adeleke’s earlier promise to sanitize the current park system and ensure travelers enjoy a safe and secure new contract of transportation.”

“It is a statewide single ticket system approach and will create thousands of temporary jobs in Osun State. The new policy will boost our income generating capacity and help improve our economy.

“In addition, this new system will eradicate the insecurity, destruction of property and murder that travelers experience when rival union groups attack each other. Moving forward, no one should be caught fighting or causing any kind of disturbance in our parks or highways,” the statement added.
