The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, says its annual general congress previously scheduled to be held later this month in Bauchi will now take place in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state.

In a letter dated Thursday, January 5, 2023, and addressed to the state athletics associations, Rita Mosindi, the federation’s general secretary, says that the congress will now take place a week after the previously rescheduled date of Saturday, January 21. January 2023.

“I am directed to inform you that the postponed Annual General Congress of the Nigerian Athletics Federation previously scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Bauchi has been rescheduled to be held in Jalingo, Taraba State,” the letter said, among other things.

The AFN also revealed that accommodation and transportation allowances will be provided to members of congress, namely the presidents of the 36-state athletics association and Abuja or its secretary.

The congress was previously scheduled to take place in Asaba, Delta state, on the sidelines of the 21st National Sports Festival last December, but was first moved to Bauchi and now to Jalingo.

Congress is expected to deliberate and approve the federation’s program of activities for the 2023 athletics season.

The congress is expected to be chaired by Tonobok Okowa, president of the federation, who is also expected to present a detailed report on his administration over the past year.
