Nigerian model Fancy Acholonu has taken another U-turn days after apologizing and seeking reconciliation with her ex-fiancé, Alexx Ekubo.

While the former lovebirds got engaged in May 2021, Acholonu suddenly called off their already-scheduled wedding in August of the same year.

On Friday, the model publicly apologized to Ekubo via Instagram, stating that her heart still belongs to him.

Ekubo reacted to the apology with a comment saying, “I appreciate the apology. May God bless us all.”

The post has since been deleted.

In an unexpected turn of events, Acholonu took to Instagram on Monday to declare that he is “free” and that “the chain is broken.”

“Happy New Year everyone. 2023 will be my year of strength, being fearless, speaking for myself and FINALLY not under anyone’s control anymore. I am free, the chain is broken. God bless us all. #SimplyFancy” , he captioned the post.

Responding to questions in the comments section, Fancy claimed that the actor forced her to write the apology to damage his public image.

Instagram user @lindaedo asked why the former couple broke up in the first place, and Acholonu replied, “For the same reason I don’t want to be with him anymore, you’re all right, people don’t change.

“I definitely would have quit again. So he deserves different and I deserve better,” she wrote.

Responding to a similar question from another commenter, @buzzboxer360, the model lamented the backlash she faced after her apology even though the reasons for their breakup are not publicly known.

“I literally didn’t say anything about why I ended it in the first place,” he wrote.

“People attack me without even knowing the pain I went through and he is busy asking me to publicly apologize all the time just because of his image. What about my image that you are now trying to damage?

Fancy labeled Alexx’s actions “beyond cruel” and stated that she was “no longer scared or in his control.”
