All members of the Congress of Progressives (APC) and other political parties in the hometown of Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, have defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

APC members who were received by acting PDP Chairman Isaac Mffo during the PDP campaign tour in the Wannune Tarka local government area of Benue state expressed appreciation for his decision to part with their parties to join the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Benue development.

Also speaking, Benue State Internal Revenue Services (BIRS) Chairman Chief Mimi Orubibi Adzape, who praised the defectors for making a wise decision, revealed that the APC administration has caused more harm than good to the nigerians.

He also expressed concern about the poor socio-economic situation in the country, which has thrown many Nigerians into difficulties, describing the situation as pitiful for an average Nigerian.

Orubibi explained that the continuous increase in the cost of goods, petroleum products and basic services such as energy has caused many difficulties for Nigerians.

The Benue tax chief further explained that the daily worsening security situation in the country has greatly affected the revenue generation in the state, which has depleted the revenue to the lowest level.

He said that although he ran for the Senate in 2019 on the APC platform and even defeated the then incumbent senator from his zone, Senator Barnabas Gemade with more than 50,000 votes. He had to get rid of the party due to his unpatriotic leadership disposition.

“I was a member of the APC but I decided to defect to the PDP because of the party’s unpatriotic leadership style, which doesn’t care about the situation of the people. I urge you to massively vote for the PDP because it is the only political party that cares about the situation of the people.

Earlier, Governor Samuel Ortom stated that Nigeria is gradually abandoning the policy of intimidation and theft of ballot boxes and ballot papers.

He urged the people of Tarka to come out en masse and vote for the PDP candidates in the upcoming elections.

“The PDP is the only party that will protect you. The local government of Tarka shares a boundary with Guma and due to the activities of herdsmen. Most of Guma’s people are taking refuge in Tarka, so you know what I’m saying. Your people have also been killed.

“Therefore, we must vote wisely. Vote massively for the PDP because it is the only party that will protect you”. declared Orthom.
