Legendary sports journalist, Amar Ignis, has garnered the 2022 Union of Nigerian Journalists, NUJ, Best Sports Presenter/Reporter of the Year Award from Radio Nigeria’s headquarters in Chapel.
The multi-talented sports broadcaster received the award at the NUJ Week culminating in lectures and awards for deserving staff held at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Garki, Abuja on Wednesday 25th January 2023 .
Reacting shortly after receiving the award, Amar said he was overwhelmed by the recognition, saying it would encourage him to redouble his efforts to better serve society.
“I am really elated. It came as a shock to me.
“I never knew that I was shortlisted.
“There were so many voter entries.
“Seeing the loud ovation humbled me.
“This can only be God at work.
“This means that people are really following what I have been doing, and my stay at Radio Nigeria is appreciated.
“This will definitely push me to work harder and push higher.
“Whatever you do, do it diligently because you don’t know who is listening, watching, or even watching you.
“I dedicate this award to Almighty God who has made it possible for me.
“I also thank all those who have considered me worthy of receiving this important award. This has really got me down and tells me that this is just the beginning, and that I can be better than this.”
Amar Ignis works with Radio Nigeria, Abuja, and recently led the closing ceremony of the 21st National Sports Festival held in Asaba, Delta State with over fifteen thousand participants including the Minister of Youth and Sports Development. , Hon. Sunday Dare, governors of four states, among other dignitaries from around the world.
