A 15-year-old girl (name withheld) has been allegedly raped by a member of the anti-cult group in Issele-Azagba, North Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Tony Ukwamedua.
sunday punch he deduced that the victim had gone looking for her brothers, who went to the house to buy something around 9 p.m., only to be missing, but later found in a pool of blood around 1 a.m. the next morning.
Recounting her ordeal, the victim said: “I was looking for my brothers when Uncle Tony found me and asked where I was going. I told him that he was looking for my brothers who went out to buy something. He asked me to join him on his bike to track them further.
“Instead of going up, he drove straight to the brother’s guest house around the market. I told him, ‘man, this is not where you should bring me, let me go, my parents must be looking for me too.
“No one was seen when he took me to the guest house and asked if I was a virgin. I told her that if she told me that she doesn’t worry that she wants to have sex with me, that she would use two condoms together to penetrate well.
“I was crying and begging him to let me go. Now she turned my hands back and pushed me onto the bed. She covered my mouth and forced me to undress and started raping me.
“When it was over, I was bleeding and crying; now she brought water and asked me to wash myself. She forced me to put N5,000 in my hand and asked me not to tell anyone. When I made it home, I told my dad what Uncle Tony did.”
The victim’s father, Johnbest Okolie, said that after the daughter told him what happened, he now left angrily to track Tony down to the house.
“The rapist who has no remorse dared to chase me with a gun. Thank God for my two children who also came with me. They held him down, picked up the weapon and he escaped beaten.
“I took the weapon to our palace and handed it over to the Obi of Issele-Azagba. Early that morning, not knowing what to do, I was told to take my daughter to a private clinic for treatment.
“They gave him an injection, a drip and some drugs. But all that day and the next morning, she was still bleeding before someone told me to take her to the Asaba Specialist Hospital, where the government handles sexual assault cases.
“I thank God we came here; since morning, it has been a medical examination and the other. We receive the best of cooperations. The people from the Children’s Rights Committee assured me that the government will take care of everything related to their tests and comprehensive treatment.
“I want this animal of human nature to pay for what it did to my innocent daughter. I have not anybody; I’m just a poor farmer struggling to take care of his children. I need justice for this little boy. Tony just destroyed his life,” he said.
In a telephone conversation, the Chairperson of the Delta State Child Rights Implementation Committee, Ms. Kevwe Agas, confirmed the incident, adding that appropriate medical, legal and security documentation would be prepared to prosecute the case.
He stated that justice must definitely be done to deter irresponsible men who take advantage of the girl’s vulnerability to desecrate or rape her.
