Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, says he will reduce the poverty rate in the country and provide more opportunities for young people if elected.
Adebayo spoke on Saturday during a visit to Joseph Olubiyi Ajibise, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, in Ile Ife, Osun state.
The SDP presidential candidate was represented by Yusuf Buhari, his running mate.
He said that one of the main problems facing the country is acute poverty despite the potential of material and human resources.
“If you go through some areas at night, you will see some people sleeping on the streets, without shelter,” Adebayo said.
“If you go to the hospitals, the patients are on the floor, without a bed, just one doctor with thousands of patients.
“Nigerians don’t deserve this. Nigeria is a blessed country. We have resources, we have professionals, if we can assemble our house, all these things that we are seeing, we will not see them”.
Adebayo said that Muhammadu Buhari’s administration failed to improve the welfare of ordinary citizens, adding that his party is on a mission to provide Nigerians with better treatment.
“We are here to assure you of all the plans that we have drawn up, even when we arrive we will fulfill them. We know it will be difficult but we are going to achieve it by the grace of God”, he said.
The presidential candidate said that young Nigerians have a lot to gain from the SDP if they are elected to power.
