Peoples’ Democratic Party contender for the House of Representatives seat in Ikorodu, AbdulAzeez Awesu, has mobilized youth and adults from the division to support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 general election.

Awesu, who is challenging the withdrawal of his mandate in the Supreme Court, during a demonstration he called in Ikorodu on Wednesday, urged members of the division to vote for Atiku.

Speaking at the event, Awesu said the rally was to let people know that the PDP was actively present in the division, adding that the party’s presidential standard bearer was a uniter who would keep his promises to the people.

He said: “People really need to know that PDP is still in the ground. That is just the basic gist of the rally and knowing that Atiku Abubakar will be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Atiku Abubakar is the unifier. The main reason why we are doing this is to bring Atiku Abubakar to the doorstep of each and every one, knowing that he is the one who can do it on the PDP platform.

“I am very happy with the participation. He showed that a lot of people have really been waiting for this to happen. We have many strategies in place and of course I tell you that in Ikorodu, the PPD is taking the Ikorodu Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Senate and the governorships.

“You can see how people came out en masse despite the weather. Believe me, we are going to have three to five more rallies, and the essence will be to get the PDP to people’s doors. I am sure that the third rally will include our Excellency, Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor, who is our gubernatorial candidate; candidate for senator, in the person of Akobada; Candidate for the House of Assembly constituency 1, Hon. Olamide Lawal, and our candidate for the House of Assembly for electoral district 2, in person of the Hon. Oyebo.
