Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state said on Saturday that Peoples’ Democratic Party presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would reopen the nation’s borders if elected in the 2023 general election.
The director general of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council made the statement at the PDP campaign rally in the state’s Illela Local Government Area.
According to him, the PPD presidential candidate has better plans for the country.
“These include reopening the nation’s borders, addressing the challenges of insecurity and providing the basic necessities of life for Nigerians,” he said.
The governor added that his administration in the state is very sympathetic to the fact that the people of Illela are one of the areas hardest hit by bandit attacks.
“However, despite the challenges of insecurity, the economic recession, and the negative impact of COVID-19, we have executed various projects in health, education, water supply, and social interventions, among others,” he said.
In his remarks, the director general of the Sokoto Campaign Management Council, Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman, called on the people of the area to choose continuity in government by casting their votes for the PDP.
PDP gubernatorial candidate Malam Sa’idu Umar has vowed that the international market project in Illela would receive the attention it deserves from his administration if elected.
Umar said that he owed special attention to the people of the state in general. He vowed to uphold Tambuwal’s legacies and initiate more development projects, if he is elected.
For his part, the PDP senatorial candidate for North Sokoto and acting lieutenant governor, Alhaji Mannir Dan’iya, attested to the successes of the current administration in the state.
He urged the people of the state to reciprocate the gesture by voting for the PDP, adding that many development projects for the Kware LGA were planned in the 2023 budget.
