The Accord Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Adebayo Adelabu, again urged the state’s electorate to avoid violence and vote-buying in this year’s general election.

He gave this advice in his New Year’s message made available by the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organization.

Adelabu noted that the past year was a challenging year for Nigeria, especially in the area of security and economic downturn, adding: “Despite so many challenges facing the country in the areas of security and economy, there is a need to thank God for the gift of life.

“The year 2023 is important and significant in the life of Nigerians because two critical exercises will take place, the general election and the population and housing census for the advancement of the country.

“These two critical decisions are important for national development, especially the 2023 general elections, which is an important factor that will determine the fate of the country and states in terms of governance and general well-being of the masses.”

The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria therefore called on politicians and their supporters to avoid any act that is capable of undermining the nation’s democracy.
