A two-year-old boy has been rescued from a mentally challenged woman suspected to be his mother in the Okinni area of ​​Osun state.

The boy, named John Mary, was reportedly rescued from his mother on the Osogbo-Ilobu highway by two people whose identities were not released.

A statement signed by Information Officer, Osun State Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Aminat Adebare, obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, further said that those who rescued the child took him to the Home for Motherless Babies at Jaleyemi Hospital, Osogbo. , and then notified the police.

The statement, however, called on members of the public with relevant information that would allow the government to identify the relatives of the mother and child in order to contact the police.

It further read in part: “A two-year-old baby named John Mary has been rescued from his mentally challenged mother in the middle of the road in Okinni, Osun State.

“Therefore, we ask members of the public, with relevant information about the families of the child or his ailing mother, to contact the police at Dada Property Division, Osogbo.”
