The bandits raided the residence of the late Emir of Jere in the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Dr. Sa’ad Usman, and kidnapped a man identified as Hussaini along with his wife and four-month-old baby.

A Jere resident, Mu’azu Adamu, said the incident happened on Sunday, around 11:23 p.m., according to a report from daily trust.

The woman, however, allegedly escaped with her son while her kidnappers led them to raid another house in the area.

“Actually, one of the victims was hit by a stray bullet when the bandits fired at the window of Baba Na’ibi’s house, while the second was injured by the broken glass of the window of the house,” he said.

Jere Emirate Council Secretary Malam Aliyu Zubair confirmed the kidnapping, saying six people were kidnapped in the area.

It added that the bandits invaded the late emir’s private home at around 10:12 pm Sunday and kidnapped one person, before heading to a neighbor’s house, where they kidnapped five people.

“And before the police arrived, the bandits had escaped. It was our vigilantes who tried to attack them, but they were defeated because the weapons carried by the bandits were more sophisticated than those of the vigilantes,” he said.

The Kaduna State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
