Bordeaux boss Wax Lyrical on Josh Maja

Girondins Bordeaux manager David Guion has praised striker Josh Maja for his all-around performance for the team this season.

Maja is enjoying a good campaign with the French team, scoring 10 goals and assisting three in 18 appearances.

Talking about Maja’s feat this season, Guion explained how he improved the striker during the winter training camp.

“We worked a lot on our offensive animation during the winter break. Josh Maja is an important part of our game,” Guion said.

“We also discussed a lot with him so that he is much more present, more dangerous also in the penalty area.

The strategist also highlighted the other aspects of Maja’s game.

“Also, I liked his goal on Saturday because he is the creator and the finisher. So, I think that role shows his qualities.

“Personally, I like it. when you play deep players next to them, or on the wings, it doesn’t matter. He played very well.

“In any case, when he has the ball at his feet, you need movement, versatility because behind him he can put the balls however he wants.”

With Maja’s form, Bordeaux has a chance to return to the top division next season.

They currently sit second in the league table with 32 points from 18 matches; seven adrift from Le Havre.
