President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that some foreign countries are sponsoring the insecurity plaguing Nigeria, saying their mission is to destroy the country.

President Buhari, who made the remarks during a presidential luncheon hosted for him by the Kano state government after a one-day visit yesterday, said that if Zamfara state governor Babagana Zulum were not serious about his work, the story around the Lake Chad area would have been different by now.

“One can clearly see how these foreign countries took over the weak part of Nigeria, Lake Chad, where we have crude oil reserves and caused serious chaos there, with constant attacks to actualize their diabolical motives,” he said.

“Zulum always lives up to his duties, including going to the offices of the permanent secretaries who are still in bed and challenging them to live up to their official responsibility.”

Buhari recalled that in 2015 when he took office, of the 17 local governments in Borno state, only four were not in the hands of Boko Haram, “and we are aware that many people were using the insurgency to cause trouble, but today most of these local governments are free.”

The president added that those behind the insecurity knew that Borno was a potentially rich state.

“That is why, when I was governor there. I went to Niger, Chad and even Cameroon because you need your neighbors to survive”, he explained.

Buhari who praised his host. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, on infrastructure development in the state, also praised the governors of Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina and Kogi states for their performance in office.

Along the same lines, the president urged the elites to work on educating young people who are the potential leaders of tomorrow, adding that the lack of education among them is causing a serious setback for the country.

PPD condemns attack on Buhari in Kano, blames Tinubu and Ganduje

Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Kano state by thugs the party says are allegedly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate. (APC), Asiwaju Bola. Ahmed Tinubu.

The secretary of national publicity of the PPD, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement, said that the organized attack on the person of the president is blatantly treasonous and a sacrilegious attack on the country’s sovereignty, which must be condemned by all.

“Our party is alarmed that this attack is part of the APC presidential candidate’s alleged plot to undermine the Presidency, cause confusion, unleash violence in the country, disrupt the conduct of the 2023 general election and derail our democracy; realizing that he cannot win in a peaceful, free and fair electoral process.

“The PDP invites Nigerians to note how Governor Abdullahi Ganduje tried to curtail President Buhari’s movement and even tried to prevent him from visiting Kano State.

“More disturbing is the fact that the APC presidential campaign sought to humiliate and harm President Buhari, while he was carrying out his official duties in Kano.”

The party noted that the APC presidential candidate had been showing open dislike and inflammatory statements against President Buhari ever since his declaration, in line with best democratic practice around the world, that Nigerians should freely vote for any candidate and party. of your choice in the 2023 General Election.

“Asiwaju Tinubu’s apparent frustration at resorting to encouraging or condoning violence is fueled by his entitlement mindset, that it is his turn to be president, despite his numerous disqualifications and disability baggage.”

The PDP recalled Tinubu’s infamous statement in London where he declared to his supporters that “political power is not going to be served in a restaurant, it is not served à la carte. It is what we are doing; It is being determined; you do it at all costs; fight for it, grab it, rip it off and run with it.”

“Recently, Asiwaju Tinubu further incited his supporters against President Buhari at the APC presidential rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he accused Mr. President of trying to subvert the electoral process.”

The PDP said it is now clearer why the APC presidential candidate brazenly established a militia codenamed “Jagaban Army” that is designed to undermine national security, unleash violence on the institutions of democracy and disrupt the electoral process.

The PDP advised Tinubu to accept the fact that Nigerians are determined to have free, fair and credible elections.
