The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), approved the reconstitution of the governing councils of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research and the Center for Management Development.

The approval was announced in a statement issued by the Information Director of the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Folasade Boriowo.

The statement noted that the announcement was in preparation for the inauguration of both governing councils by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, at a date to be announced in due course.

The statement read: “The Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning announces the approval by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, of the Reconstitution of the Governing Councils of the Nigerian Research Institute. Social and Economic (NISER) and the Center for Management Development (CMD).

“NISER Council membership includes Dr. Emmanuel O. Imafidon (Chairman), Dr. Hauwa V. Ibrahim, Professor Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, Sabiu Zakari, Kalli Gazali, Professor Benedict N. Akanegbu and Felicia I. Onibon (Members ).

“Other members of the Council are: the Director of the Institute; Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industries or its representative; Director (Macro) in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning; the General Statistician of the National Statistics Office; and Director of Research, Central Bank of Nigeria

“CMD Council is composed of the following members: Ms. Binta F. Shuaibu (Chairperson); attorney Marie O. Idaomi; Professor Muhammad A. Mainoma (mni); Mr. Olawale Joseph Ademola; and Mr. Bitrus D. Chinoko (Titular General Director of the Center).

“CMD Council membership also consists of one representative from each of the following: Ministry of Budget and National Planning; National Commission of Universities; Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association; National Youth Service Corps; Headquarters of the Civil Service of the Federation; Industrial Training Fund; and, Central Bank of Nigeria.

“This announcement is in preparation for the inauguration of the two Governing Councils by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, which will take place on a date to be announced soon.”
