In honor of the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund), Arch. Sonny Echono’s 60th anniversary, President Muhammadu Buhari and other eminent Nigerians have remembered his impact on the growth and development of Nigeria.
Echono, who began his career in public service in 1987, has served the nation steadfastly and creditably in many capacities, sharing his deep experience and knowledge, and making a positive impact in each role.
On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Buhari through his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina congratulated him, while praising his Impact on national development.
The president believes that Echono’s youthful start, careful adherence to public service culture, patience to climb stairs, and regular upgrading in course attendance, at home and abroad, set him apart for distinctive and senior positions. leadership, working in various ways as Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry. of Agriculture and Rural Development (2014-2015), Federal Ministry of Communications (2015-2017), and retired as Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education (2017 – January 2022).
Buhari applauds the Executive Director of TETfund for serving the country with foresight, humility and diligence, with strong foundations as Director of Procurement in five key ministries: Defense, Water Resources, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as Energy, and serving in many special committees and working groups for reforms and policy formulation.
“As the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Founding Member and Trustee of the Nigerian Association of Procurement Professionals turns 60, the President is confident that his experience will support the nation on the march to greatness, especially in the educational sector”.
President Buhari prays that Almighty God will keep and bless Arc Echono and his family, and reward their sacrifices.
Federation Government Secretary Boss Mustapha said Echono’s achievements and contributions over the years towards the growth and development of Nigeria through his excellent performance as a distinguished public servant who rose to the top of his career and retired as a permanent federal member. “His appointment as Executive Secretary of TETFund in March 2022 and the award of the National OON Honor in October 2022 by Mr. President did not come as a surprise to many, including me. This is largely attributed to his excellent and unblemished record of service to his country.

“Indeed, you are a blessing to the nation as you left an indelible mark and inscribed your name in gold on Nigeria’s rich history by positively impacting the lives of so many people. He has also shown that he continues to be a strong pillar for his family.
