The Nigerian Bar Association said on Monday it would schedule a special program to honor the late lawyer, Ms Omobolanle Raheem, who was shot dead on the last day of Christmas.
The NBA revealed this in a statement signed by its National Secretary for Publicity, Mr. Habeeb Lawal, in Lagos.
Raheem was allegedly shot and killed by a police officer as she was returning from an outing with her family. The alleged murder occurred in Ajah, Lagos state.
The Nigerian News Agency reports that Raheem was shot dead by an Assistant Police Superintendent attached to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos. Since then, the suspect had been remanded in custody.
In the statement, the NBA said new dates for Raheem’s burial ceremonies would be released.
Contrary to the previous announcement released by the family of the late Bolanle Raheem regarding his burial arrangements, new dates will be announced soon.
“This is the result of sensitive matters discussed with the family during the visit of NBA President YC Maikyau (SAN), who led a delegation to the family.
“In addition, the NBA is planning a dignified event for attorneys to pay their last respects to their deceased colleague.
“This event will be sponsored by the NBA Lagos branch and all the details will be announced soon,” he said.
