The late VC, who took over as director of the institution in June 2020, was said to have died on Thursday.
However, the cause of his death was still unknown at the time of writing this report.
When contacted, the University’s Head of Media and Protocols, Mr. Adebayo Olagunju, confirmed the incident.
Olagunju described the death of the VC as sad.
He said the university community was shocked when the news broke.
“The family will soon give more details about the incident,” Olagunju said.
A tenured professor at the school, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter, said the vice chancellor’s death was shocking and devastating.
He said: “We were very shocked when we heard the news of his death. There were no signs of illness in him before the Christmas holidays and we still do not know the true cause of death of him.
