Men from the Bauchi State Police Command reportedly killed several bandits and kidnappers during a shootout in the Yankari Game Reserve Forest in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of ​​the state.

State police public relations officer Ahmed Wakil, in a statement Wednesday, said the commando recovered two AK-47 rifles from the bandits.

He said: “During the daring operation, several bandits were neutralized and evicted from their enclaves, while the remainder ran disorderly into the depths of the forest with possible gunshot wounds.

“Similarly, the troops held patrol and clearing operations around the thick forests to arrest fleeing suspects. Consequently, during the operation two AK-47 rifles were recovered.”

It added that operatives from the commando’s base 4 anti-kidnapping unit arrested two suspects, who confessed to kidnapping four people and camping in the Yankari Game Reserve Forest and collecting a ransom of N20m.

“The investigation revealed that the main suspect, Adamu Muhammad, confessed to taking part in kidnapping activities in Kaltanga village, where they kidnapped four people and camped them in the Yankari forest for about five days until the sum of 20 million was paid. of naira as ransom,” Wakil said. .
