Director of Special Media and New Media Projects and Operations, Tinubu/Shettima Pres. Campaign Council, Femi Fani-Kayode, praised Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his stance on the Central Bank’s new naira policy from Nigeria, CBN.
Fani-Kayode described El-Rufai as the “hero of the moment.”
Reacting to the development, a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in a series of tweets on Saturday declared: “The hero of the hour is @elrufai. He has spoken the truth and @fkeyamo has confirmed that truth in the most eloquent and courageous way on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ last night.
“Those who plotted and plotted to stop BAT and are attempting to set our nation on fire and destroy our democracy have failed.
“Next Saturday this matter will finally be concluded, the hopes of the conspirators will be dashed, and our collective enemies will not only be utterly humiliated and convincingly defeated, but also confined to the dustbin.”
Remember that the Governor of Kaduna in a state broadcast on Thursday night insisted that N500 and N1,000 notes remain legal tender in his state until the Supreme Court rules otherwise, describing the naira policy as a alleged “plot for an interim government and a military takeover.” ”
El-Rufai’s position was in stark contrast to that of President Muhammadu Buhari, who on Thursday ordered old N200 notes to remain legal tender until April 10 and old N500 and N1000 notes to cease being legal tender. .
The naira crisis has continued to add to tension in the country as protests in the cities have turned violent.
