The Community Day Celebration, organized by the State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, has as its theme: ”Strengthening community participation for inclusive governance”.
Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu he said the endorsement for a second term was a testament that his administration had been doing a lot in the state.
Sanwo-Olu promised that his government would not shame the masses for the trust they placed in the administration.
Listing some of his achievements, he said that no less than 40 traditional rulers have been installed since the administration came into being.
”I recognize each one of you and I recognize all the CDAs here today. It is a great honor for me to address you at another annual community day celebration.
“I can’t thank you enough for being our eyes and ears over the past three years since the launch of our ‘Great Lakes.’
”Let me say emphatically that at the inauguration of this advisory council in March 2020, they have not only been trustworthy but trustworthy. They have given you a lot of advice.
”Our loyalty is to serve the people. We have assured them of a determined government. That security is being confirmed. I take this endorsement for the entire political structure in Lagos State, including our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ball Tinubu.
”Let’s put a man who has done it in Lagos state, so that everything he did in Lagos can have effects at the national level,the governor said.
CDA Chairman Hamzat said the achievements of the current administration endeared members of the community to backing the governor for a second term.
“On behalf of the more than 4,000 active CDAs in Lagos State, we appreciate the efforts of the state government towards our CDAs.”
Some of the emblematic projects are the Blue Line, the massive road infrastructure, the establishment of two new universities.
”Had it not been for the timely intervention of your government, many lives would have been lost in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank you for the efforts all aimed at the well-being of people.
”My people said that I should thank you for approving this annual program. We humbly remind you of your promises during our last meeting.
“In this note, the executive resolved that we openly endorse him for a second term and present him with the APC flag as a symbol of our endorsement.” he said.
Formerly the Governor’s Special Advisor on Community Affairs, Mr Balaji RobertsHe said that the program was to demonstrate that the dividends of democracy were given to the people.
”The state government welcomes them as development partners. It is in recognition of this that we have gathered here today and are presenting awards,Roberts said.
