The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission indicted former Vice Chancellor Professor Ibrahim Garba and Treasurer Ibrahim Usman of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State on eight counts bordering on theft and money laundering at the rate of N1. billion.

The anti-corruption commission revealed this on its Twitter page on Thursday.

The duo were arraigned before Judge AA Bello of the Kaduna State High Court by the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Command.

According to the commission, the indictment followed months of low-key investigation sparked by a petition accusing Garba and Usman of diverting money earmarked for the renovation of the popular Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria, from various accounts belonging to the institution to their private accounts.
