A coalition of former militants and agitators for resource control in the Niger Delta have endorsed and declared their support for Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi in the upcoming general election.

The group, in a statement co-signed by its leaders: Dede Udofia, Ibanga Ekang, Ekpo Ekpo and Ukpe Sampson, made available to journalists in Abuja, described Obi as the symbol of a new Nigeria.

The statement further described Peter Obi as the most qualified among the presidential candidates judging by his good record, character, competence and age.

The agitators also said that Obi would address the issues of Boko Haram and banditry in the north, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the east and clashes between leaders and farmers in the center. north, as well as ensuring that Nigerian citizens enjoyed a safe and serene environment at all times.

They added that it was also fair and equitable to vote for someone from the southeast of the country, emphasizing that the northern, western and southern regions of the country have had their share of the presidency, leaving the southeast behind.

The statement read in full: “At the Niger Delta Agitator Coalition general assembly meeting held on January 23, 2023 in Port Harcourt to reassess the current political waves, the challenges facing the nation, the background of all the candidates and their ideological techniques to address the hydra-headed challenges facing the Nigerian state, the all-night meeting takes into consideration the current failed security system in all geopolitical areas of the Nigerian state, the economy on the verge of collapse, the deterioration of the infrastructure, the total deterioration of the health system, as well as the massive fraud experienced in public offices throughout the country.

“The Coalition unanimously resolved as follows: Since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, the South West has produced a President for eight (8) years in the person of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and currently the area has produced a Vice President in the person of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for eight (8) years.

“Similarly, the North has produced two presidents, Alhaji Musa YarAdua, two (2) years and General Muhammadu Buhari, eight (8) years, respectively. The South South geopolitical zone has also produced a President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for six (6) years.

“Therefore, it will be a grave injustice, marginalization, oppression and wrongdoing to deny the South-East the opportunity to produce the next President of Nigeria. Therefore, it is not logical for areas that have produced Nigerian presidents to keep seeking that mandate again, even when said candidates lack the strength and ability to fulfill such roles.

“That all the candidates presented by the political parties for the next presidential elections are eminently qualified, but the only person with a good record, character, ability, young, energetic and with deep knowledge of the challenges facing the citizenry is Mr. Peter Obi .

“He is a symbol of a new Nigeria and we believe that awarding him the presidency will be of great benefit to Nigerians as Nigeria will return to the path of infrastructure development, growth and prosperity.

“The current security challenges in the country will be comprehensively addressed by Mr. Peter Obi, particularly Boko Haram and Bandits in the North; IPOB, ESN and unknown gunmen in the South East as well as herdsmen in the Middle Belt, South West, South East and South South areas to ensure that Nigerian citizens enjoy a safe and serene environment at all times.

“Therefore, it is not in the interest of our homeland and the future generation to vote for a Nigerian president based on ethnic or religious sentiments, as doing so would be disastrous for the country considering the current economic problems faced by the citizens.

“We call on all Niger Delta citizens, especially ex-agitators, current agitators and all Niger Delta citizens to massively vote for Peter Obi as we are confident he will ensure full implementation of the plan. Niger Delta teacher, job creation through industrialization, adequate funding from the NDDC and the Presidential Amnesty Office, the full implementation of the third phase of the Presidential Amnesty Program, as well as the implementation of the reintegration of the Presidential Amnesty Program to the beneficiaries that the current administration is not sincere in its proper implementation.

“We want to affirm that the Niger Delta Agitators Coalition is already working and ready to mobilize all Niger Delta agitators, ex-agitators, youth and women in all coastal, riverside and hinterland communities of the Delta states. of Niger to vote en masse. for Peter Obi and ensure his victory at the polls as the man to ensure that a better Niger Delta and Nigeria is delivered to the citizens of Nigeria.

“A vote for Peter Obi is a vote for competence, better Nigeria, stability, peace, infrastructure development, educational/technological advancement, security, better and stabilized economy.”
