Four people were reportedly killed in a traffic accident that occurred at a junction along the Kurum-Bogoro highway in the Bogoro local government area of ​​Bauchi state.

The accident that involved two motorcycles occurred on Friday, December 30, around 7:00 p.m.

An eyewitness said the two motorcyclists coming from opposite directions had a head-on collision at the intersection that killed four people, while two commuters suffered varying degrees of injuries.

Our correspondent learned that before the crash, one of the motorcycles was driving without headlights, which made it difficult for the other motorcyclist from the opposite direction to notice, hence the crash.

A relative of the victim, Daniel Haruna, who confirmed the accident narrated how his son died in the accident saying, “yes, my son died in the unfortunate accident.

“He and his friend left home last night to go to a nearby town called Kurum, but a few minutes later, I received a phone call that they were involved in an accident.

“I went to the hospital and saw his lifeless body. As I speak to you, we are planning his funeral. The dead are four, while the wounded are receiving treatment at the Bogoro General Hospital.

Bogoro Local Government Council Vigilance Committee Chairman Markus Lusa, in reacting to the incident, described it as very unfortunate and called on road users to be cautious, especially in the festive season.

Lusa also warned motorists and other road users to drive carefully at night by making sure to have their vehicle and motorcycle lights on at night.

While praying for the rest of their souls, the president condoled with the direct relatives of the deceased.
