The former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was beating and correcting some of his old friends from school during his 100th anniversary walk in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo was part of the centennial celebrations for the Boys Baptist High School.

The former president led the current and former students of the school and joined the Senior Children’s Association headed by Professor Kayode Oyesiku.

Obasanjo’s Special Assistant to Media Kehinde Akinyemi said hundreds of Abeokuta residents praised Obasanjo and repeated his name for his energy during the walk.

Residents praised the former president for his skill, energy and stamina in undertaking the walk despite his age.

The journey took them through Isale Ake, Adatan and Kugba Road before entering the rehabilitated Saje Road on the school premises with the school anthem sung among other songs, through Oke Egunya, Igbore, Oke-Igbein and in Oba’s palace. Omolade in Omida.

Oyesiku said the walk covered a stretch of 18 km when they joined.

He praised Obasanjo for his spirit behind the centenary exercise.

Obasanjo was born on March 5, 1937, and was a military leader who served as Nigeria’s head of state from 1976 to 1979 and then became president from 1999 to 2007.

He was born in the village of Ibogun-Olaogun to a farming family of the Owu branch of Yoruba and attended Baptist Boys High School for his secondary education.
