I pray for the management of the team under the auspices of the indefatigable coach Edith Agoye. God will continue to guide our own team to return to the path of victory. Mainland is sure.

“Long live the stars of the sun. Make a drag free relegation zone this season,” Olubunmi Arogunjo also wrote on Facebook.

A resident supporter of the club in Akure, Karim Olaleke, said: “I have seen the team at its peak and I have also seen them when things were bad. The journey has been a mix of joy and pain for me as a fan, and I hope one day to see this team win the NPFL in particular, and I also want to see them return to the continent and make us proud again like they did in 2011 and 2012.”

In a conversation with Sunshine Stars FC Supporters’ Club President Tunde Adeboboye said the team is ready for titles as they head into a new season.

“We thank God for his mercy on us fans, we have been supporting this club since its inception and it is our prayer that one day we will celebrate winning the league and even the FA Cup,” Adeboboye said. PUNCH Extra Sports.

While domestic titles have eluded the club, Sunshine Stars reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

They are drawn into Group B of the abbreviated 2022/23 season of the Nigerian Professional Football League and will face newly promoted side Doma United in their opening match on Sunday in Gombe.
