The primate of the Lord’s Church (TCL) worldwide and president of the World Council of Churches (WCC) for Africa, Reverend (Dr) Rufus Ositelu, has assured Nigerians that God has promised to do something new and that the country flourish again in 2023.
Ositelu stated this in his New Year message to the nation as the world entered 2023, while congratulating the entire nation and the world at large on the grace bestowed on one and all in witnessing the New Year.
In his prophecy for the new year, Ositelu noted that the Lord said, “I will do something new in Nigeria and make Nigeria flourish again. There will be political, social and economic advances”.
“I want to affirm that this season is a time to show love for each other, especially to the underprivileged. It is equally a time for sober reflection both individually and collectively as a nation to avoid the pitfalls of the past and chart a new course to reach great and lofty heights.
“As we all know, 2023 is an election year, therefore it is important for the federal and state governments and especially for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee free, fair and credible elections. All forms of electoral malpractice must be avoided. At this time, let me emphasize that politicians and stakeholders must let patriotism and selfless service be their watchwords throughout election campaigns, during and after the upcoming election.
“Similarly, women should be allowed and encouraged to vote and be voted for. Show the fear of God in everything you do. Avoid violence and political heating as no election is worth the life of any Nigerian. Youth must resist being used by politicians as agents to perpetrate violence,” she added.
