The wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has highlighted the need for more women to participate in electoral campaigns and in the political process in the state.
Sanwo-Olu made the call, according to a statement on Wednesday, during a meeting with female candidates from the Congress of All Progressives and professional women at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
She said: “Lagos has always set the right example for the equal participation of women in politics and government. Today we have women in strategic positions in the state executive council, ministries, commissions, departments and government agencies.
“More professional women in various fields of human endeavor are encouraged to participate in the electoral and political process and it is in our collective interest that all stakeholders become involved.
“It is also important that women encourage other women, especially women who dare to run for elective office. For us, our candidates remain Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the presidential election to bring renewed hope to Nigeria; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to foment further Lagos uprising; and indeed all APC candidates to deepen and accelerate development in our state and country.”
