On Monday morning, armed men abducted the President of the Igueben Area Customary Court in Edo State, Ms. Precious Aigbonoga.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Festus Usiobaifo.
It said the magistrate was kidnapped in Ugoneki while on her way to a court in the state’s Igueben local government area.
The statement read: “The President of the Igueben Area Customary Court, Ms. Precious Aigbonoga, was abducted Monday morning in the Ugoneki area when she was on her way to the court in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State. .
“She is the wife of our colleague, Mr. Afebu Aigbonoga, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Etsako West Constituency 1.

“The President of the Lion Bar, Chief Nosa Edo-Osagie, is deeply saddened by this news and condemns in the strongest terms, the disturbing callousness of these bandits in kidnapping Ms. Precious Aigbonoga; a calm, gentle and hard-working court official.
“The NBA executive is in close contact with the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dankwara. By the grace of Almighty God, the victim will be rescued unharmed and the bandits will be brought to justice, Amen.”
