All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians of his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises if he is elected president of Nigeria in the February 25 general election.

The APC candidate made this claim on Sunday at an endorsement rally organized by the Arewa Community in Lagos.

At the event, which was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan witnessed the presence of Northern Nigerians who came to offer their support to the former Lagos State Governor.

“My respect for this country will continue to increase and I will keep all my promises that we will all live in harmony. We belong to each other’s hearts,” Tinubu said.

He also assured that his rule would be for all Nigerians, regardless of their tribes and faith.

“From the time I enlisted in politics, I have always been nationalistic and de-tribalized in my approach. I do not operate based on ethnicity, region or religion. I have friends and associates in every corner of this country.

“As Governor of Lagos State, I have formed a cabinet made up of competent people from all parts of Nigeria. We had the Yoruba, just like we had the Igbo and the Arewa. What was important to me was not his ethnicity or creed, it was his competence and the value he would bring to the government and to the people. To replicate this feat for the country is why I have offered myself for the presidency,” he said.

On his plans for the country, particularly the North, Tinubu vowed to address the security challenges being experienced across the country, stating that the economy cannot prosper in an insecure environment.

“If I am elected president, my highest priorities will be the protection of our land and the prosperity of its people. I will approach this nation’s problems with a commitment to solving them.

“I will give priority to the security confrontation, making the economy one of widely shared prosperity and paying special attention to agriculture like the current government of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired).

“On security, my policy is not contrived to sound good for this campaign. Our security policy is based on a dedicated study and long conversations with experts in this field.

“I used the same approach to address the poor security situation I faced when I took office as Governor of Lagos. I created programs and institutions to solve the real and dangerous challenges facing Lagos. I will increase the security staff and equip them better. Advanced air and ground surveillance technology will identify, track and attack criminals until they are completely defeated.”

He also promised to provide jobs for the nation’s youth, while ensuring electricity generation is improved to allow more people to start small businesses to feed their families and dependents.

He added that great attention would be paid to agriculture, to ensure that there is greater food security through increased productivity and better farm income, thus returning agriculture to its place of honor.

The APC candidate also promised to reactivate the road and rail infrastructure for the ease of movement of people and cargo, among other interventions.

“We will invest in the Kolmani Oil Well Project inaugurated by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired) and indeed in all the vital infrastructure projects such as Mambilla power project, AKK gas pipeline projects.

“We will reactivate our inland waterways through the dredging of the Niger River and we will ensure that we reduce our steel import bill by making Ajaokuta Steel Company work,” he added.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje described Tinubu as “a symbol of unity, a product of unity in diversity. He is the right person to be endorsed by Arewa and the best for the presidency,” he said.

Arewa Community APC Chairman Saadu Yusuf Gulma Dandare praised Tinubu for his stewardship while serving as Governor of Lagos State, ensuring that Nigeria would be a better place under his presidency.
