Leicester will swap plates with Newcastle United on Tuesday for the League Cup quarter-final match, and Kelechi Iheanacho believes his team can get their revenge.

The Foxes lost 3-0 to Eddie Howe’s side at King Power Stadium in December with goals from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood and Joelinton.

While Leicester City secured passage to the next round of the FA Cup with a win over Gillingham on Saturday, Newcastle United suffered a shock exit at the hands of Sheffield on Wednesday the same day.

However, Iheanacho believes that his team has the momentum to get into the game.

“This gave us momentum to go to the next cup competition”, said the Forward. “We are playing against Newcastle. A kind of revenge because [they] beat us in the Premier League.

“It’s not going to be easy, but let’s cross our fingers, we’ll go there and fight to our last breath to make sure we win,” Iheanacho concluded.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored the decisive goal for Leicester City against Gillingham to take their FA Cup tally to 16.

The Nigerian has started just eight games for Leicester City this season.
