The Kano state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party Interim Committee on Saturday accused the former chairman of the dissolved state executives, Shehu Sagagi, of flouting the court order by continuing to present himself as acting chairman.

Kano PDP interim committee secretary Bala Aliyu made the disclosure in Kano on Saturday, while briefing reporters on current developments in the Kano PDP, insisting there was no faction in the party.

To this end, he said the committee has filed a petition to the police and the Department of State Services for criminal impersonation against Sagagi’s action, which could have resulted in a breach of peace in Kano state.

Aliyu said, “We have petitioned the police and DSS for criminal impersonation against Sagagi.

“We have launched the machinery to trigger contempt proceedings against whoever is marching against the ruling of the valid sentence of the Court of Appeals.

“The PPD at the national headquarters has the power to produce its own candidates to run in the general elections.

“In this case, where some people, whether at the state or local government level, do it on their own, there are on their own.

“In a situation where there is a subsisting court order, which empowers the PDP at the national level to appoint an interim Committee in Kano PDP, as it derives powers from the national headquarters, anyone who chooses to do otherwise is disobeying the court order. .

“The said executives led by Shehu Wada Sagagi filed an appeal with the Nigerian Supreme Court, which was adjourned until November 20, 2023 for hearing.

“The problem is that when the NWC dissolved the committee led by Sagagi after Kwankwaso’s departure, Sagagi went to the Federal High Court, which set aside the NWC-appointed Guardian.

“The National Labor Committee complied with the injunction, which it appealed, and the Court of Appeals quashed the Federal High Court’s ruling and restored the NWC’s power to dissolve the state chapter, as provided by the party constitution when the dispute arises. need.

“The effect of the judgment of the Court of Appeal is that it led to the appointment of the current committee.

“How can a responsible citizen evade the valid judgment of the Court of Appeal? In that direction, we are law abiding and therefore have petitioned the police and DSS for criminal impersonation against Sagagi.

“We have put the machinery in place to trigger contempt proceedings against whoever is marching against the ruling of the valid sentence of the Court of Appeals.”
