The Joint Admissions Management Board along with the Central Bank of Nigeria has said that e-naira is the preferred mode of payment chosen for UTME 2023 registration.

CBN’s Director of IT, Architecture and Strategy, Rakiya Mohammed, who was represented by Abdul Shedrack, made it known when speaking to the board and his financial partners.

He explained that the adoption of the e-naira would eliminate extortion from the candidate, adding that it would reduce the overall indirect cost of cash transactions in the wider community and block leaks in board transactions.

It added that it would also promote the digitization of cash and facilitate the development of e-commerce, enable a reliable mechanism for the issuance of JAMB electronic PINs in bulk, as well as support and promote the implementation of government policies.

Mohammed further allayed fears by explaining that e-naira is the digital version of the naira currency by saying that it had the same value and is backed by law. He adding that it would work as a safe and efficient alternative means of payment that is transparent and hardened against any form of abuse.

Therefore, candidates are encouraged to download and install the eWallet from their website or through the Google Play Store or Apple IOS Store.
