International finance and law expert, Dr. Jennifer Douglas, has been nominated for the Wintrade Global Award in the Icon Woman of the Year category and will speak at the Wintrade Global Summit of Women Entrepreneurs in the House of Lords, London, London, United Kingdom.
Dr Douglas, who made the list of the 100 most reputable Africans a few weeks ago, is an international lawyer with over 25 years’ experience working in finance, law, education and the non-profit sector in the UK. , Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, and also the founder of the Gede Foundation.
The awards ceremony, which would celebrate the milestone 25th anniversary of the Women in Commerce Annual Summit by 2023, will take place at three locations of the London Stock Exchange, Lloyd’s of London and the Chamber of the Lords of the United Kingdom, on March 13, 14 and 15, respectively.
Dr. Douglas led the insolvency and restructuring practice where she advised fast-growing public and private companies and supported their executives, directors, investors and advisors. She does a fair amount of regulatory and compliance work, debt portfolio restructuring and receivership.
He now advises and facilitates key business and government relationships and strategic opportunities for companies looking to invest in Africa.
Dr. Douglas was an Assistant Professor at American University, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where she taught public international law and African politics. At AU, she supervised student theses and was a consultant at the University’s United Nations Program.
Dr. Douglas is a member of the International Bar Association and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Participates in the creation of new communities and charities, as founder and member of the Board of Trustees of the Gede Foundation, a non-profit foundation, with UN Observer status, whose mission is focused on removing the burdens of health undeserved and stigmatized ‘from the shadows’ through quality mental health research and advocacy.
She has also worked as a consultant election observer for the UN Observer Mission in South Africa (UNOMSA).
