The Katsina State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party disagrees with the ruling All Progressives Congress on the statement that 1,900 PDP members in the Danmusa local government allegedly defected to the APC on Sunday.

APC campaign council spokesman Ahmed Abdulkadir claimed that a popular politician in the state, Sani Abụ, was among the defectors.

He said: “Katsina State APC candidate for governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda stormed the Ɗanmusa local government area and took over the supporters of former Katsina State Government Secretary Mustapha Inuwa.

“More than 1900 former SGS supporters crossed rugs from mainly PDP and other parties to APC. They were received by APC’s Katsina State Governor candidate himself, Dr. Dikko Radda.”

Reacting to the claim, PPD campaign council spokesman Kabir Yar’adu’a asked the APC to present the defectors.

reported that Yar’adu’a said the APC was nothing more than an “architect of hoaxes and fake news.”

He noted that the number of registered voters according to the Independent National Election Commission in 10 local government areas, including Danmusa, had 142,261 voters.

The council spokesman said: “How, then, does APC get its 1,900 campers out of that number? This is apart from those voters who were displaced by banditry and those who migrated and resettled elsewhere.

“Therefore, it runs our imaginations for the APC campaign council director to make such an insensitive, unsubstantiated and biased judgment in allegedly recruiting such a figure and come to the wrong conclusion.”
