Terrorists attacked a police “Nipping Point” in the local government area of Cuttlefish in Katsina state on Monday morning, during which one of the terrorists was killed.
Two police officers who suffered injuries in the encounter had been treated and released.
Katsina State Police Command spokesman SP Gambo Isah confirmed the development.
It said the incident occurred at around 4:30 am at the Magama/Hirji junction along Katsina/Jibia Road.
According to him, the terrorists had stormed the Police Nipping Point in large numbers, adding that the bravery and professional display of the officers at the Nipping Point enabled them to repel the attack and killed a member of the terrorist gang in the process. meeting.
Isah added that many of the terrorists fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
He also revealed that police recovered an AK 47 rifle, cash and other exhibits from the scene.
He said: “At around 4:30 am, terrorists in large numbers, firing sporadically from AK 47 rifles, attacked a police Nipping Point at the Magama – Hirji junction along the Cuttlefish – Katsina road. The policemen engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.
“One of the terrorists was neutralized and an AK 47 rifle with four magazines containing 90 rounds of 7.62mm AK 47 rifle ammunition was recovered. Money and other exhibits were also recovered. Many of the terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.
“Two police officers were injured during the encounter. They were taken to the Cuttlefish hospital, treated and released. Search parties are still combing the area in order to arrest or recover more bodies of the terrorists. The investigation is ongoing”.
