Three teenagers, who kidnapped a six-year-old girl in Kano and demanded two million naira as a ransom for her release, have been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command.

Command spokesman SP Gambo Isah made the disclosure in Katsina on Wednesday night.

He gave the names of the three suspects, who were 19 years old, as Abdulrazaq Ibrahim; Aliyu Salisu and Muhammed Ibrahim. Only Ibrahim resides in Kano, while the remaining two suspects are residents of Katsina state.

Police revealed that the trio kidnapped the six-year-old victim, Fatima Abubakar, in Kano on January 6, 2023 and brought her to Katsina.

Thereafter, they demanded a ransom of two million naira for their release.

The police spokesman added that after receiving credible information about the incident, Katsina’s command men sprang into action, leading to the arrest of Aliyu Salisu as he was about to collect the ransom.

Further investigation reportedly led to the arrest of the other two suspects.

Isah explained: “On January 10, 2023, around 5:00 pm, based on credible intelligence, the commando managed to catch and arrest one Abdulrazak Ibrahim alias ‘Popular’, aged 19, from the Bachirawa neighborhood, Kano state; Aliyu Salisu alias ‘Chilo’, 19 years old, from Sabuwa Unguwa slum, Katsina State and Mohammed Ibrahim alias ‘Zalamo’, 19 years old, from Gidan Dawa slum, Katsina State.

“Nemesis encountered the syndicate when they kidnapped their victim, Fatima Abubakar, ‘F’, 6, from Bachirawa slums, Kano state, on January 6, 2023, around 11 a.m., brought her to Nemesis state. Katsina and demanded two million naira (N2,000,000.00) ransom.

“Upon receiving the information, detectives immediately sprang into action. The suspect Aliyu Salisu alias ‘Chilo’ was caught red-handed in the process of receiving the ransom. During the investigation, the other members of the union were also arrested and the victim was rescued unharmed.

“The investigation is ongoing”.
