The Katsina State Police Command identified the terrorist killed on Monday when its officers repelled an attack on a checkpoint in the state’s Cuttlefish Local Government Area.

Police said the suspect, Ibrahim Dangawo, was a terrorist leader operating in Katsina and Zamfara states, adding that his gang may have killed a former cuttlefish division police officer, DSP Abdulkadir Rano, in 2022. in an ambush.

Katsina Police Command spokesman SP Gambo Isah confirmed the development in a statement.

“Furthermore, unconfirmed sources revealed that six terrorists were buried in the forest today (Monday). The investigation continues,” the statement added.

A gang of terrorists had attacked the police checkpoint at the Magama/Hirji junction along Katsina/Jibia Road on Monday morning, resulting in the death of Dangawo.

Two police officers, who suffered injuries in the encounter, were treated and released.

Isah revealed that the incident happened around 4:30 am.
