The Lagos State Police Command punished officers who were filmed assaulting a woman after seizing her phone in the Ilasan area of Lekki Phase 1.

The commando’s police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, made it known via his Twitter page as he reacted to the video.

A Twitter user, @Austynzogs, shared a video of the woman being roughed up by two police officers on Tuesday, demanding if the police had released her after the altercation.

The tweeter wrote in the caption of the photo: “Last week, policemen guarding the palace in Ilasan, Lekki Phase 1, allegedly assaulted a woman for trying to record them during a confrontation with an Uber driver.”

Tagging Hundeyin and Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in the tweet, the tweeter asked, “The lady’s phone was seized and she was also arrested. Has she been released?

In response to the tweet, Hundeyin noted that the police officer from the Ilasan division intervened in the case and made sure that the lady got her phone back.

He also stated that the officers involved had been subject to disciplinary measures.

Hundeyin tweeted: “DPO Ilasan came in, made sure he got his phone back right away, and subjected the officers to disciplinary action.

“The lady stated that she was injured, for which the officer was mandated to compensate her medical expenses.

“The lady went home happy. I also checked on her.”
