Frank Lampard spoke about the injury suffered by Alex Iwobi after Everton suffered a 3-1 FA Cup defeat against Manchester United on Friday.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international went down awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of the game at Old Trafford and was stretchered off.

Lampard has confirmed that the Super Eagle will have to undergo a scan on Saturday.

“We hope it is not too serious. It’s an ankle ligament injury, hopefully it’s minor. He will have a scan on Saturday to confirm it,” Lampard was quoted as saying by Everton TV. club official website.

Before the injury, Iwobi had a lively game for the Toffees, creating chances that faded away before being replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

His injury will be a concern for Lampard, who faces the challenge of improving Everton’s chances of staying in the Premier League. The former Arsenal star has started 18 league games for the Toffees, netted one goal and provided an assist.

He will hope to recover and be available for Everton’s league game against Southampton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
