According to emerging reports about the event, several people, including two members of the Benue State House of Assembly, were injured in the car accident.
Where Ortom’s convoy was headed: The governor and supporters of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) were traveling to the Utokon community of Ado Local Government Area (LGA) as a follow-up to the party’s gubernatorial campaign rally.
How the auto accident happened: The driver of a placarded bus full of PPD supporters lost control and struck three vehicles; a jeep, a security vehicle and another bus in the convoy.
Other part of the convoy were: The lieutenant governor of the state, Ing. Benson Abounu; Senator abba moro; members of the House of Representatives and members of the House of Assembly from the Benue South district; among other senior government and party officials in the state.
The state government ambulance in the convoy immediately evacuated the injured to hospital.
